love reign down (poem)
September 09, 2003 � 8:59 p.m.
Blue skies cry
bitter golden tears
that create vibrant sheer rainbows
that gallivant across the horizon
to come and revere and parade before me
and he...
some solicitous sorcerer
that manifested from these promiscuous prisms---
dallies before me
and seduces me with his smile.
I merely gaze at him...
enraptured by his beauty
and mesmerized by the low hum
that vibrates from him
as he dares to glide closer
and kiss me with his fingers
on my eyelids
and bombard my mind with visions
too confusing and duplicitous to be deciphered
in the rapid flashes that they advance.
He left me limp and breathless...
his stance akimbo and proud
as he watches the emotions tumble around inside of me
some sort of loquacious love lottery
that he seems to be hoping to strike---
but I resist.
Impressed, again he smiles,
proud of the reaction that pounces from me
as I sit up straight and hold my ground
scoffing at his outstretched hand.
"Who do you think you are?" I laugh.
"I am Love," his motionless lips whisper,
"I came from your midnight prayers to the stars and darkness.
I want for you to follow me now...for I am ready...
yes...come with me now...or I will never come again."
I stare square into Love's eyes and reply,
"Yes...I know you well. Have yearned for you constantly.
Cried for you often. And never did you answer my plea.
Now you come...knowing I am not ready...knowing that you are unwanted...
making demands to bend and break me to your making.
But you will not.
Leave me be, Love. Come back when I am ready...
if not...then very well forget me...
I will find another master to fall in awe of."
Brightly, he smiles, confounding the hell out of me
as he steps forward and kisses my lips.
"So be it..."
Before he explodes into crystal raindrops
he swishes across my neck and says,
"I will return"
I smile and continue to watch my parade...
categorizing my priorities, prioritizing my dreams,
silently anticipating
my Love's
return.
