evrywun loves sumboty

This is one of my favorite poems I wrote. The people in my poetry clubs raved it, I don't see why they liked it, maybe it was the dr. Suess tempo, but my love for it is purely selfish. It's been tumbling around in my head the past few days and I needed to put it here so I can see it when I need it.

I am Nobotee.

-Evrywun loves Sumboty-

I was sitting alone one day

pitifully lamenting,

when someone walked up

and sat close by.

"What's your name?" she chirped

with a voice like a silky melody,

pretty face open, a killer body-

I hated her instantly, but still I answered,

"Nobotee."

"Nobotee who, dear?"

"Nobotee Speshul. And you?"

"Sumboty, baby. Sumboty Uwishuwer."

I grimaced and she smiled.

"Pretty name," I say,

"I know," she purred...

and I had the strongest urge to smack her...

this Sumboty Uwishuwer.

She would catch me stealing glances,

for I admit, I was totally enthralled by her beauty...

and at once she leaned in and whispered,

"I know you want me."

I scowled at her and moved back

and was about to slather her ass with a venomous attack,

when my friend, Evrywun Iwanabe, sat on the other side of me.

"Who is she?" he asked incredulous,

eyeing all her gorgeous curves...

"Sumboty..." I mumbled, "Sumboty Iwishiwer."

"Uwishuwer," she corrected, taking his hand.

First she takes up my space, knocks my name,

makes me feel lame,

hits on me, then corrects me...

now she moving in on my would be man?

Naw fuck that...

I block their line of vision and he sits back.

"What's with you?" he snaps, and as quick as a flash,

"She wants me," says Sumboty, "wants me bad.

She wants to be in my skin and walk in my shoes,

look at this face in the mirror...know me through and through.

She wants to feel these thighs,

and see with these eyes.

Yeah...she wants me bad...feel that heat rise?"

She grabbed my wrist and I couldn't resist,

and tears filmed my eyes

as I realized

that this beautiful stranger knew me all too well.

Evrywun shoved me aside and proclaimed,

"Girl...marry me. I want to be with you, Sumboty...forget this Nobotee.

She's Nobotee Speshul...I really love Nobotee...

but you, Sumboty, I want to be with...

build with, grow with, spend my life with."

Evrywun pushed past me and kissed Sumboty.

When they stood to leave me I screamed at her,

"Who the fuck do you think you are? You ain't nobody special!"

"Naw baby, Nobotee Speshul is who you are.

I'm Sumboty, honey. Sumboty Uwishuwer.

And don't you ever forget it."

She sauntered off with my man

and I cried and cursed her...regretting what her new name would be...

what my name should be...Nobotee Iwanabe...

now she�s gonna be Sumboty Iwanabe...

because I was afraid to show my love for Evrywun,

she took Evrywun away from me...

Evrywun Iwanabe...

leaving me here hating myself...

a fucking stupid Nobotee.

Cursed to stay Nobotee Speshul...

till the day I die.
